Terrie admits to being on the sushi-overeaters 12-Step Program

How long ago did you begin eating sushi? I began eating sushi when I was just one year old, i.e., I ate guppy.

How were you introduced to sushi?  I think she said, “Now leave the fish alone while I clean their bowl!”  Which translates to a one year old:  “Eat raw fish.”

Did you like sushi the first time you tried it?   Oh, Yes! It was wasabi which riveted my attention, however.   Then again, it could be the ginger “chaser” which my friends instructed me to eat, saying it killed the worms in the fish.  Good enough reason.  I love to try new things- especially food.

How often do you eat sushi? Fairly frequently since I actually make it at home- the easy stuff like California rolls.

How often would you like to eat sushi?  If I had dates and ate out-  at least once a week.

What is your favorite (or favorites) sushi? I always rely on my friends’or waiter’s  suggestions when we are out.  Like I said, I like to try new things.

What is your favorite sushi restaurant?  I like most any -Zen 32- it is close, trendy, fairly reasonable, Fuji’s (I’m a quantity eaterJ) or the one up at 32nd st and Tatum.

What is your most memorable sushi experience? EROTICA SUSHICA- One time I made a sushi roll to take to work for lunch. Too lazy to cut it, I made the nori like a tortilla into a big 7 inch roll, which becomes a little limp and wobbly after you drip the soy sauce and wasabi down the “tube.”  Holding it straight up, I find you have to get down take a big bite off the top or it gets really messy. I’m in sushi la-la land when I notice it has become very quiet in the lunchroom.  One of the people sitting at my table says, “My God Terrie!  It looks like you’re … [MakiMom's edit: engaging in a certain sexual act]! Just another thing to address with the 12 Step Sushi Program…”

Where is the most unusual or exotic place/city you’ve eaten sushi?  From the front seat of a car to a San Francisco restaurant.

Have you converted/introduced anyone to sushi? How many people?  None.  I think I scare them.

What was your score on the “Are you really a sushi lover” test?

Now I ask you- I’m still eating sushi after swallowing live guppies and being told to eat something to kills possible worms.  Isn’t that a REAL, dedicated sushi lover?!

Check all that apply – do you enjoy:

Nigiri sushi (slice of fish over rice)

Maki (roll) sushi

Temaki (handroll) sushi

Chirashi (sashimi over a bowl of rice)

Sashimi (slices of fish – no rice)

Cooked sushi only – nothing raw

            Miso soup

            Edamame

Any other comments:  I like them ALL above…..I love food – the reason I shamefully admit I am on the 12 step program with Weight Watchers.

Went to eat at Ichi Ban with Nicole and Krystal from my office this past week. At the end of our meal, Krystal and I admonished Nicole to never to leave costly sushi and to eat or take it with her. Then I notice Krystal had a bowl of edamame left! I grab one, pop it into my mouth and both Nicole and Krystal start gagging! Evidently, the bowl of edamame was the filled with the EMPTY, EATEN shells...!!Being almost a germphob, I chase it with the worm-eating ginger.... and once again, all is good...except for the fact they'll never go to lunch with me again :)
